As a consultant Mike has worked with small business owners and senior managers to identify opportunities to improve operations and develop action plans to achieve growth. Successes include developing analysis to assist owners/managers in evaluating business concerns and developing analysis to assist owner/managers in evaluating business concerns and developing a path forward; assuming leadership role in a troubled company, evaluating the business opportunities and leading the business forward and ultimately to a successful sale; leading efforts to improve organizations’ accounting and financial capabilities to include strengthening controls and establishing timely and accurate reporting; establishing scorecards of key metrics, providing business insight into past and future results for organizations; and providing buy and sell side transactional support, including evaluating contracts and creating pro forma financial statements.
Mike has developed his skills in private enterprises and public firms. In the private sector, he has held key roles as the Chief Financial Officer of two closely held small businesses in addition to a 10-year tenure with Trader Publishing Company, serving in multiple roles to includes Business Manager of the start-up Online division, Corporate Controller, and Treasurer. Mike’s experience includes developing and evaluating business analysis, overseeing accounting, treasury, risk management, banking, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to moving to the private sector, he worked in public accounting for six years to include his role as senior accountant, concentrating in financial audit, at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
